Monday, October 10th - Day 113 Update
Hello again,
Tori's sleeping cycles are currently in sync with day and night as she slept all Sunday night. She also had a couple of great PT sessions today and the first one this morning was basically completed while she was still sleeping. So she was never agitated and her range of motion while sleeping is incredible!! :-) The therapists really enjoyed the workout because Tori offered NO resistance and they really, really stretched her out.
Today offered much of the same as the last few days with excellent tracking, many sucker tastes and swallows plus some Diet Coke :-) She continues to open her mouth and swallow very well. Her sensitivity to touch is very minimal and she will need that when we get the 3 hour therapies going once again. She is currently watching Guy and I working on our laptops and she appears sleepy already.
My cousins from Minnesota left for home today and we already miss their company. Kourtney and Michelle also paid Tori a visit tonight.
They wanted to move Tori today but various insurance related details are still not resolved so we will try again tomorrow. Pretty much a slow day again for Tori and us but we are expecting things to pick up once we leave the ICU environment.
Thank you all,
-Tim
My visit to Utah
Wow! Where do I begin. My two sisters and I (we are Tim's first cousins from MN) made the trip to Utah last Friday for a long weekend. Our purpose was to provide support to Tim, Maria, Uncle Paul, Aunt Sandy and of course Whitney, Brendan and TORI!! Tori is as beautiful as all her pictures. She has matured, of course, since we last saw her. Once we arrived on Friday, she was sleeping. So we were not able to see those big beautiful eyes until Saturday. I was wearing my bracelet and she immediately focused on that for quite some time. Sunday I wore my yellow Pray 4 Tori Tshirt so she could focus on the bracelet on the shirt. I was amazed at her ability to track us around the room as the weekend progressed. By tracking, I mean, she will watch you as you walk around her bed and sometimes turn her head. She prefers to turn her head to the right, but I understand previously she prefered the left. Our days consisted of taking turns sitting in Toris room or in the waiting room with Tim, Maria, Uncle Paul, Aunt Sandy, Todd & Lorrie, TJ & Laurie, & Guy, Sopie. We talked, looked a dance pictures and videos. Once Tori would fall asleep we would sneak out for a bite to eat with the family. We would then return to the hospital for the remainder of the night. I have to say Monday was the best day for Tori, she was so relaxed and alert. She enjoyed the pictures I showed her of CHAD MICHAEL MURRAY!!! We also had some time to go to the candle store in the mall. My sisters and I definately put a dent in the store's Pray 4 Tori inventory. WE also loaded up on t-shirts for our family in MN.
Guy, Sophie, Marilyn and Mackenzie (kenzerella!!) are just as I thought they would be. Very warm, loving, hospitable people. It was a pleasure to be able to visit with you all. But most of all, I hope we provided some relief for our family even if it was only for a short time. Sorry for the long update, but for those of you who have not been able to see Tori, she looks very good. Her color is awesome, her eyes are just as beautiful, her skin is radiant. She is the same Tori. I just wish we knew what she was thinking. That will come with time and prayer. To my family in Utah, hang in there, you are all awesome people and we are thinking of you constantly!!
