Sunday, July 31st - Day 42 Final Update

Thank you Guy for the mid-day and evening updates you posted earlier. I don't have too much to add to them other than it was a half good and half bad kind of day...

The first half of the day went very well with the 'Day at the Spa' treatment and the like. Tori then ended up vomiting several times after 3:00pm but with very small amounts each time. She is indeed digesting some of her feeds because not all of it is coming out. She seems to have a fever again tonight and all feeds have stopped until tomorrow. Complete culture samples were also taken to make sure she doesn't have yet another bacteria or virus... We have been scaling up the feed rates from 10 milliliters per hour all the way to 25 milliliters per hour and since we seem to have hit the highest rate we can go now, we will probably drop the rate back down to 15 milliliters per hour or so. Tori handled that rate for quite a while.

Tori has been sleeping fairly well so far tonight but she is needing a Valium every few hours to keep her calm and resting. I'm heading back into her room now and hoping for some more peaceful rest for Tori.

Thank you all again,

-Tim

A night w/ MRCL GRL

This is Todd, Tim's brother. As Guy mentioned I spent the night with Tori Saturday. Ours was a quiet night as Tori was still being affected by the drugs from the earlier procedure which I was present for (the PIC line frustration). During my night I was torn as to whether to try and stimulate her or let her rest. With the afternoon she had Sunday I'm glad I let her rest mostly - the short times she was somewhat awake (after a suction or a coughing spell)I did make eye contact and reassured her I was there for her. She didn't respond that I could tell but I sensed she recognized me and went back to resting - her eye lids were so very heavy! A comment about Tori's care: If you want the best possible care for a loved one and the best possible outcome be active in that care. Be VERY active. Tim & Maria have done exactly that and more. As a college student I spent a number of years working as a PT aide at several rehab. centers. I worked with hundreds of patients and families and none have shown as much involvement or tenacity in making sure their loved one gets the best care... Tim & Maria you both have shown, and continue to show unbelievable strength, courage, and perseverance!! I want to tell Guy that this site and its' setup are amazing, helpful and awesome - and so are YOU. Family and friends - God has a plan for every one of us, He knows Tori, He is with Tori. We don't know why but right now Tori's life plan has an absolutely heart wrenching physical and emotional trial to get through. Please keep Tori, Tim, Maria and all others in your prayers and/or thoughts. Stop by, call or comment on the web site they all make a difference. God Bless, and Bye for now.

Believe In The Power of Love...

Tim & Maria, we have never witnessed so much loving support from so many wonderful people. You truely are blessed in that aspect. If there is one parallel we could mention, it would be that we've witnessed first hand what the power of love can do and to stay extremely actively involved in Tori's care! Tori is so lucky to have such caring and wonderful parents that love her as much as the both of you do! Todd hit home earlier with his comment about being actively involved. Staying actively involved and helping the Doctor's and Nurses treat Tori during her recovery can not be over emphasized, it is an absolute must for Tori! You both must also take care of yourselves, each other, Whitney, and Brendan because Tori will feel this and she still needs the "family structure" as part of her recovery. This website is an awesome way of allowing people to share their love and care for you and your whole family and is a nice way to track Tori's recovery progress, thank you! Tim & Maria, you both are an inspiration. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Tori day and night. God Bless...

MRCL / GRL

Yes, Todd I agree with you 100%. I do believe, to be in this position such as Tim & Maria are in, you have that certain inner strength you never thought existed. Just the way they and everyone around them has educated themselves on every detail is amazing. Keep up the prayers and positive thoughts everyone.

Thinking of you all!!!
